There has been an acquisition of a different kind that has risen in the UK Esports scene. Audacity Esports, which competes in Rainbow Six Siege & CS:GO has been acquired but not by another brand or another team. Instead, they have been acquired by Jesse Lingard who plays professional football for Manchester United of the Premier League. The brand has been relabeled as JLINGZ Esports.
JLINGZ is not a brand that has just recently sprouted for this esports organization. It has been around for a while as Jesse has been building a clothing brand under that name and the Instagram account alone has over 174,000 followers. Jesse stated that “My JLINGZ brand has been growing for several years but to finally dive into esports and add my teams to JLINGZ is incredible.”
With the acquisition complete, we now must simply wait to see the team compete in the newest season of the UK and Ireland Nationals. Although this is no small bump in the road for the team, the majority of the R6 roster has moved on, as only Captain Sam Williams will be returning to the roster.
With Jesse entering the scene, he is another addition to the growing roster of professional athletes that are diving into esports head first to grow and see what it has to offer. As well as offering support to a game like R6 that is seemingly dying according to online forums but with support from other large names and Ubisoft themselves, it soldiers on.
